Democracy Forward is a national legal organization founded in 2017 that uses the law to advance democratic principles and build collective power. It provides free legal representation and expert counsel to people and communities across the United States. Since its inception, the organization has engaged in more than 650 legal actions, demands, investigations, and advocacy efforts.
The organization operates several key initiatives. Its Democracy 2025 program is a coalition of over 650 organizations coordinating what it describes as the largest legal response to unlawful administrative action in modern history. Another initiative, Civil Service Strong, focuses on protecting federal workers from political retribution.
