Put your Bluebook, cite-checking and legal writing skills to work on AI training, on your own schedule, whether you are in law school or already hold a J.D.
The AI systems everyone is talking about are trained and tested by people with real legal knowledge. The teams building them need law students, J.D. holders, lawyers and paralegals who can read U.S. legal documents closely, check citations, judge whether an answer is legally sound and explain the reasoning in plain language. Your feedback makes these systems more accurate and more reliable. This is a remote, part-time contract role.
What you'll do
• Read and mark up U.S. legal documents used to train and test AI systems, adding detailed written feedback
• Draft and edit legal content, and cite-check it to Bluebook standards
• Judge legal material for accuracy and consistency, and explain hard legal concepts and the reasoning behind them in plain, concise terms
• Work with project stakeholders and help improve project guidelines and best practices
Why this is worth your time
• Earn $50–$80 an hour for legal reading, writing and cite-checking work done from anywhere in the United States
• Work on AI systems that read U.S. legal documents, evaluating their outputs and helping improve their accuracy and reliability
• Build practical experience applying legal research and Bluebook skills to AI evaluation and clear model feedback
• Fully remote and flexible, no fixed shifts, no commute
Who this is for
• Currently enrolled at a U.S. law school, or hold a J.D., or bring relevant experience as a lawyer or paralegal based in the United States
• Strong knowledge of the U.S. legal system, legal research methods and legal writing conventions
• Exceptional command of the Bluebook and proven cite-checking ability, with close attention to clarity and detail
• Able to break down complex legal issues and explain legal reasoning accurately
• Professional fluency in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Law students need law review or legal journal editorial experience; for other contributors it is highly valued
• Helpful background includes study toward, or a degree from, a T14 U.S. law school; prior AI training work is not required.
Pay and details
• $50–$80 per hour, paid hourly as an independent contractor
• Part-time, flexible schedule; fully remote, United States
